Jørgen Sandvk, the young Norwegian veteran has toured the world with the folk rock ensemble Real Ones. As a solo artist he plays the blues. To Jørgen the blues is a state of mind, not only a musical genre.
Tell Your Mother is both traditional and refreshingly new, being a sneak peak into the album. Jørgen has a strong focus on tradition, yet he may use non traditional instruments like the 808, flutes, pump-organ and percussive use of an out of tune piano.
Tell Your Mother is based on a song by Willie Cobbs (You Don’t Love Me) which derived from a Bo Diddley tune. Well known versions is recorded by the Allmann Brothers, John Mayall and Ike & Tina Turner.
Blues is based on traditions. Finding the origins of old songs may be a little complicated. Anyway, Tell Your Mother by Jørgen Sandviks is a unique recording, derived from a song credited to Willie Cobbs.
